A collage of Christmas down under

A collage of Christmas down under

Hello morning sun, I am singing Jesus’ song,
The totara tree in Pukekura Park.
Mount Taranaki behind the Poet’s bridge,
The tearoom yawning under a blue roof of the sky,
With me the bellbird singing from the branches
Of the cabbage tree, reflecting in the dark deep pool
With the gold fish, together with the blue hyacinths
And bronze leaves of a mystery palm.

( see middle picture)

A shed at Lake Mangamahoe becomes the crib,
Watched over by mother and the foster father.
A pair of fern trees standing at a reverent distance,
The green foothill of the mighty mountain
Tell us about the wonder of life and light.
The kaleidoscope of flowers and spread of stars
Accept the bright star creating the birthplace of Jesus.
(see left picture)

Watching the sunset at Mowhanau beach,
Makes us wonder what my life is all about.
We are just so small in comparison with the immense
Universe, and we sing the song of creation.
All is a gift, all that beauty, and all the hospitality
Of a friend, even when she is impaired,
But still able to paint. ALL IS GIFT.

(see picture left top)

At Lake Rotoiti I am called to find the house where He lives,
We watch the waves and listen to our conversation,
Children try to canoe their kayak and we smile
As they tumble in cool water, while their family
Prepares afternoon tea with fish and chips.
Is this my Galilee meal? The Master whispers:
You are now a fisherman of men.
(see picture left bottom)

I wish you all
a Beautiful and bright NEW YEAR
John Heijnen
